Approach
An introduction to our approach.
We listen to every project that comes to us with the greatest attention and deep respect. We always try to understand the substance of an approach, along with its goals and what is at stake, before committing.
We then confront this material, coldly and rationally, with our criteria, in order to assess how useful and meaningful our cooperation would be. What we consider useful has nothing to do with the ambition or the scale of a project. Opening a medical practice, offering yoga classes or updating the website of a local association are all projects we hold in high regard and take pleasure in supporting.
We know our world to be deeply complex, often antagonistic, and we are able to hear that difficult trade-offs must sometimes be made to serve the outline of a joyful prospect. We also know how to live with irreconcilable arguments. In that sense we are a committed studio, but not a zealous one.
On our cooperation.
Because we select, and therefore work on, projects that bring us a great deal of joy, our involvement is total. We take the time to talk with you and to hear your remarks. We are candid, strictly within the scope that concerns us, so as to alert you to worrying points, whether cooperative, technical, graphic or ergonomic. We explain and simplify as many times as necessary.
Financially, we assess every project with great seriousness and precision. Beforehand we ask about your expectations and your budget, in order to write an estimate that is clear-headed and consistent with your means. We analyse the projects that come to us in detail and make costed proposals we believe to be as fair as possible. That is why we refuse to sell our services cheap. It remains possible to negotiate the scope, the number of deliverables and the approach (it is in fact essential, so that we define a project you look forward to while respecting your constraints and ours), but we offer no discounts and apply no preferential rates.
You are free not to disclose a budget if you feel wary (and we fully understand that). In that case we will make you two proposals, one high-budget and one low-budget.
On our criteria.
We believe that every organisation, whatever its form, embodies a political line. In that sense, we hope to cooperate with players committed to moving their sector forward, who factor into their approach the socio-economic, ecological and sovereignty-related externalities that come with it. We are not dogmatic and agree to work with every sector. The great transformations our societies need must go through the commitment of established players, and we are extremely motivated to support them if they so wish. We research the organisations that contact us ahead of every cooperation, and we will detect any project lacking sincerity or serving to launder an image. Here are our criteria.
- We refuse to work on projects that aim to discriminate, or whose activity could lead to discrimination. We prohibit all forms of discrimination.
- We refuse to work on projects that subjugate or exploit human beings in any way. We stand for fairness.
- We refuse to work on projects whose purpose, business model or externalities would feed speculative schemes. We reserve the right to judge whether something is speculative.
- We refuse to work on projects whose service or product harms human health or living things.
- We refuse to work on projects that aim to consume or damage our planet when solutions exist to do otherwise, or when, should no solution exist, the critical nature of the activity has not been demonstrated.
- We refuse to cooperate with any entity whose intention, even implicit, is to serve an imperialist or fascist ideology.
- We refuse to design projects that aim to collect and exploit user data without a clear reason or an explicit request for consent. We stand for privacy and data protection.
We have mourned hypergrowth and recognition. If Tako is to grow it will be through meaning.
